Mission Statement for Feed the Need

Feed the Need is a Christian mobile food pantry dedicated to sharing God’s love by bringing nourishing food, hope, and dignity directly to families and individuals facing hunger in Windham County, Connecticut. Guided by the biblical call to feed the hungry (Matthew 25:35) and love our neighbors as ourselves, we operate as an outreach ministry that removes barriers to food access through convenient, mobile distributions in communities like Plainfield, Killingly, Brooklyn, Griswold, and surrounding towns.

We do this because hunger persists even in our region — with roughly 15% of households in Windham County experiencing food insecurity, including higher rates among children — despite Connecticut’s overall wealth. Economic challenges, rural geography, and limited transportation make consistent access to healthy food difficult for many seniors, working families, and others in need.-

As a faith-driven mobile pantry, we respond with compassion and action: meeting people where they are, offering free groceries without judgment, and fostering community connections that reflect Christ’s heart for the vulnerable. Our work is important because no one in Windham County should face empty shelves or difficult choices between food and other essentials. By addressing immediate hunger, we help build stronger, healthier families and neighborhoods, while pointing to the ultimate hope found in Jesus.

In short: Feed the Need exists to combat hunger, demonstrate God’s provision, and serve as a beacon of Christian compassion on wheels — ensuring that every neighbor in Windham County knows they are seen, valued, and not alone.
